Hello

Hi, I'm Labdhi Vora. I'm an author, a passionate home cook, and a firm believer that the kitchen is a place for everyone—kids included! Originally from India, I live in Seattle with my husband and our daughter, Ira. I’ve always found joy in cooking, not just as a life skill but as a way to create memories, spark creativity, and celebrate culture.

My love for food and storytelling led me to write a children's book encouraging families to cook together. My recipes make the kitchen a fun and welcoming space for little hands and big imaginations. Through my story and recipes, I aim to inspire young chefs while preserving the rich flavors and traditions of Indian cuisine. Join me on this delicious journey—one recipe at a time!

Mission

I aim to redefine cooking as an essential life skill. I aim to empower families, especially children, to embrace the kitchen with confidence, curiosity, and creativity.

Vision

I envision a world where cooking is recognized as a fundamental life skill, seamlessly woven into daily routines rather than seen as an occasional task. I aim to cultivate a generation of confident, independent, and culturally connected individuals who view the kitchen as a learning, creative, and nourishing space. I hope to inspire families to pass down traditions, embrace healthy habits, and strengthen their connection through food.

Our Story

The first time my daughter, Ira, reached for a spoon in the kitchen, I saw more than curiosity—the beginnings of independence. Growing up, the kitchen was where I learned to love tradition and the magic of cooking. But as I searched for cookbooks, I realized something was missing—there were plenty for adults, but none that made Indian cooking accessible for children.

I wanted Ira to see the kitchen as a place of learning, creativity, and connection, not just an adult’s domain. I wanted her to experience the joy of rolling dough, measuring chutneys, and making meals with her hands—just as I had with my mother and grandmother.

So, I created this children’s cookbook—a guide that welcomes little chefs into the kitchen, showing them that cooking is not just a skill but a legacy of love, culture, and shared moments. This book is for every child who wants to cook, every parent who wants to pass down traditions, and every family who believes the kitchen is where love is made, shared, and remembered.
